Walking into the Ballard Designs Catalog

Do you get the Ballard Designs catalog in the mail like I do? Do you feel your heart go pitter-patter as soon as you see it? Do you soak up every inch of it and dream of what you would do with all of the fantastic home decor and design ideas?

I can answer all of those questions and more! This past weekend I went to one of their stores in the King of Prussia Mall, outside of Philadelphia. What a dreamy feeling it was to see the flattened pages of their catalog come to life!

This room is just amazing. From the impressionistic style framed prints to the arched glass door cabinet to the neutral furniture… it is screaming my name, ever so affectionately, of course. I just kept oohing and ahhing, just ask my friend.

Just look at this bed display. It says “COZY”, “COMFY”, and “COTTAGE.” And its the gingham pillow and bed skirt that make it all come together. For me the dash of pink is the perfect addition.

And this!!! This is an office display. I love the clean look of the desk with the open, airy feeling instead of something clunky. The off-white color is always popular in our shop, too.
The vase on the credenza with the light pink flowers breaks up the blue so it doesn’t get too depressing. It can be when you use it too much.

Seeing this in person was a treat. Made me realize that the mirror in my living room is just too boring. I will be hunting down something a little more exciting. The dark wall behind the mirror and buffet really adds drama.

If you’ve been to my shop you know I love blue and white vessels. If you’ll notice there is a set of salt and pepper shakers on the right side of the table. Mini ginger jar shaped. Adorable! Anytime I can find a ginger jar, it goes right into the shop. Below is just one example.

Looks great with this little yellow side table…which sold a few years ago.

Pillows and accessories are always needed when decorating. I spotted the horse on the top shelf and had to hold it in my hands. I’ve seen this piece used many times in the catalog and it is so cool. Unfortunately, I couldn’t see myself spending $179.00 on it but it was still cool. Maybe I’ll look for a “copycat” piece.

I did purchase a pillow for my olive green bedroom chaise to tie it in with my off-white painted furniture and pink fabric hues. But I’m not ready to reveal the room yet. Someday soon! The bedroom above is lovely and a touch of luxury is added with the faux fur blanket.

This table in front of the checkout desk was filled with home design books and looked so inviting. What a great idea so you can take home design ideas from their in-house designers.

It was wonderful to visit Ballard Designs in person and they did not disappoint. The staff was eager to help and were very friendly. But most of all, it inspired me to find new, beautiful pieces for Vintage & Co.

See you in the shop!
