Christmas Decor Displays & A Little Bit Of the Nutcracker Ballet

The Christmas shopping season is here! How did two months pass without a blog post from Vintage & Co.? Time is flying by and I am in the middle of the holiday season already! This is, by far, the best time of the year to have a shop. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a lot of work and stress but there is nothing else like it.

A Contemporary Christmas

When I saw this large print of a red London double-decker bus, I knew it would be a cool display for Christmas in the shop! I normally change out anything black and switch to light and bright furniture for the holidays… but this time I wanted to use black and a backdrop or “canvas” for our holiday goodies. Lots of red brought a pop of color to go with this print. By the time Small Business Saturday rolled around, it was gone, off to a new owner who had been to one of the shops in the photo’s background.

Christmas brings JOY

Nothing says more about Christmas than the word JOY. From those who celebrate the reason for the season, to those who love the sparkle and spirit of Christmas, you have to admit, most people are joyful this time of year. So, I always have a few Joy signs in many different shapes and sizes. This three-piece sign went pretty quickly because it was so lovely to look at and it was unique.

The Most Wonderful Time of the Year!

It really is my favorite time of year in the shop. So many beautiful things to set up and display. I even have fun creating social media posts and stories. There’s just so much content to work with and I haven’t even mentioned the music yet. It really is uplifting having Christmas songs playing every day. There are days I switch to something else but I can hang out and work in the shop without it being overwhelming!

Soft and Soothing Colors

This year we went with a white dining table with six chairs and added a beautiful Pennsylvania House china hutch in a soft minty green by Country Chic Paint called Happy Hour. This display enabled me to decorate with so many of our beautiful, neutral decor pieces.

The Holiday Season Kicks off with The Nutcracker Ballet

While it does take up a lot of my time, I love volunteering for the local, Lancaster Nutcracker Ballet. There are many parents that devote their time and energy to making this production happen and I am usually up to my ears in tasks from October to early December. This is part of the reason I get the store completely rearranged and decorated for Christmas a little bit early. I literally have no time as Thanksgiving approaches.

And my love for the Nutcracker spills over into the shop as customers will find a few for sale around the store!

Pops of Red and Holiday Colors

I try to find a few RED items that are unique and different … eye-catching pieces are so easy to use in a quick display here and also in your home. I want my customers to feel like they can rely on our store to find things without having to go to a big chain store.

I hand-pick all of the items in the store, not counting what our vendors bring in. And speaking of vendors, we have a few dealers who create Christmas decor and some who sell vintage goods as well. There are always different things arriving between me and our vendors, stop in and see!

We hope you have a wonderful shopping season and a very Merry Christmas!
